● Description: Product Development
● Platform: Desktop Webapp
● Timeline: MAR 2024 - AUG 2024
Objective: The primary goal of this project was to create a user-friendly, intuitive web application that houses and streamlines collaborative federal projects. The project prioritizes ease of use and enhances the overall user experience.
Problem: Current workspace applications often present challenges related to usability, accessibility, and user navigation, which can result in frustration, confusion, and inefficiency for citizens attempting to access essential services. These websites may be overly complex, with unclear language, unintuitive navigation, and barriers for users with varying levels of technological proficiency.
Sample 1 details the functionality, location and overall design of a web component with three primary functions. The diagram breaks down the location of the web component and any specific modifications related to it's location section. The high-fidelity mockup includes buttons, auxiliary controllers and UI that adhere to the organizations design system. Deliverables that incorporate data visualization tools and mockups are effective means to communicate designs to Agile team.
Sample 2 demonstrates the evolution of a dashboard homepage after two design iterations - from low fidelity to high fidelity. The image showcases design contributions that were incorporated into the final design iteration, they include: adding contact cards, adjusting global navigation and incorporating a display window for priority information. The UI was updated after two rounds of testing and interviews. Consistency with other federal sister products were major goals for the project.
High fidelity mockups were delivered to the development team. I was responsible for delivering mockups of design components that were consistent with our organization's visual identity. Sample 3 is a high fidelity mockup of a drop-down list with multiple interaction points including the drop-down arrow icon which puts the contents in view to the user, an upload button (to add contents into the list view) and an icon to minimize the list.
Sample 4 once again demonstrates the evolution of a collaborative workspace from mid-fidelity to high fidelity. The example image includes notes and annotations for additional context. In this case, the Original UI looked dated and utilized poor information architecture affecting the overall user experience. The annotations highlight key interview findings and changes made during design iterations.
This UX assessment analyzes this dashboard's usability, focusing on design components, information architecture and user experience pain points. The report highlights key findings from usability testing and provides actionable recommendations for improving navigation, content organization, and interaction design. By addressing identified usability issues, the goal is to enhance user satisfaction and efficiency, ensuring a more intuitive and seamless experience when navigating through the dashboard's plethora of data visualization artifacts.
